Schubert, Eckehard

Eckehard Schubert grew up in a musical family, he already played the cello and piano as a child.
After he was admitted as young student of Prof. Pavel Gililov at the “Hochschule für Musik Köln”, he could not pursue his cello play adequately.
Besides Cologne, his studies led him to Vienna with Rudolph Kehrer, to Salzburg with Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and to Leipzig where he passed the master class diploma with honor. He obtained further artistic inspirations at master classes with Bruno Leonardo Gelber, Emanuel Ax, Lef Naoumov, Amadeus Webersinke, Vitaly Margulis, Norman Shettler, Karl-Peter Kammerlander, Christoph Prégardien and Siegfried Mauser.
By the way, he participated successfully in various international competitions.
The international pianist is active in many fields. Besides numerous solo concerts and recitals he played with famous musicians, among others Boris Adrianov, Daniulo Ishizaka, Guido Schiefen and some ensembles.
Mr. Schubert considers the preoccupation with contemporary music his particular task. He concatenates the “old” and new music in his concerts by means of a very wide repertoire in different epochs. Thereby the audience can hear and perceive the familiar traditional works in a completely new way. Numerous works for piano solo and chamber music have been dedicated or written for him.
Another emphasis in his artistry is the preparation and presentation of parts among others from Wagner, Strauss, Verdi, Puccini and Beethoven with the soprano Edeltraud Gerer, who is expected to have a great international career. There are miscellaneous CDs and radio recordings and Eckehard Schubert has taught at different colleges and institutions in Germany and Switzerland.
